Chef David Matthews and his wife Andrea opened The Semaphore Pantry on Semaphore Road, to offer something different to the take away market. By combining his passion for food and cooking with genuine support for quality local produce, specialising in restaurant style meals that are cooked on premises, packaged in stylish white boxes and pouches which you simply take home reheat and eat.
The meals offered by The Semaphore Pantry suit the lifestyle of many people today, who are time poor but want healthy, tasty food at a reasonable price and of outstanding quality.
David has been cooking for more than 25 years, starting at the ripe old age of 8, and has worked overseas cooking for royalty and the likes of Mick Jagger, Jerry Hall and his favourite Jack Nicholson. Around Adelaide he has worked at well known establishments such as the Hyatt, National Wine Centre, Bacchus Wine Bar, Auge and Citrus. He also teaches at Regency Tafe and is well respected in his field. His philosophy on cooking is simple, flavoursome food using the freshest of produce sourced from local growers mainly.
The boxed meal range is vast from Scotch Fillet, Atlantic Salmon, Prawns, Chicken, Gnocchi just to name a few. The pouches are wet dishes like curries, risottos, bolognaise, soups - all of which can be frozen as well. The desserts are indulgent, ranging from chocolate truffle cake, panacotta, cheesecake and puddings.
The Semaphore Pantry aims to cater for special dietary needs so that no one misses out on enjoying a little everyday gourmet, offering a quality selection of gluten free meals. This gourmet food shop also has a range of fresh stocks, dressings, flavoured oils, sauces and chutneys, using the finest ingredients and no preservatives.
Whether you are looking to take your interest in creating great food to the next level or simply an entertaining night out with friends enjoying exceptional food, The Semaphore Pantry offers intimate cooking experiences with Chef David Matthews, an expert in the field who can teach you the tricks for restaurant quality meals at home.
Classes are held on Thursday evenings for 2 to 3 hours and include recipe notes, exceptional food paired with wines and scintillating conversation. Our classes are small and intimate (maximum 6 people) which means you get to enjoy the whole kitchen experience.
